A Rose for Emily (Maynard)

Everyone is making a big deal out of the fact that Bentley said he prefers Emily Maynard to Ashley Hebert. Guess what, so does Brad Womack (he picked her), so do viewers (they love her), and so does ABC (they approached her about doing the show first). That means that it is a virtual statistical impossibility that Bentley is the only contestant that prefers someone over Ashley. He’s just the only one that has come right out and said it.

So what does Emily think about Bentley? Her initial reaction was similar to Ashley’s – she said he was handsome and charming. Then she “got to know him” through the show. In other words, she caved to the court of public opinion, became a puppet to the producers, and jumped on Chris Harrison’s Bentley-is-a-villain bandwagon. She could learn a thing or two from contrarian Bentley (or the Apologists). Have the courage to be different!

But be warned Emily. You seem like a super nice girl and are clearly gorgeous. People tend to like you (Bentley Apologists included). But if you don’t start voicing your own opinions, everyone will lose interest quickly, and you will fade from our cultural memory. “A Rose for Emily” can either evoke the most beautiful contestant in the history of the Bachelor or a debutante’s necrophilia. Your choice.

If he likes Emily he’d love my sister! She looks a lot like her but has the same personality as Bentley:-) Let’s make a love connection!

such a good point….she better start voicing her own opinions or her fame will fade fast!

She looks a lot like his ex wife. Guys like Bently prefer the Barbies

    • July 2, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Yeah, Olivia, because most men hate the “barbie” type. Long blond hair, long legs, great chest to waste to hip ratio—only Bentley could like that garbage.

Not everyone likes Emily. My hubby and I didn’t like her. Yes, she is gorgeous. But the ” I lost the love of my life” comment should of told Brad that she’s not ready. After a tragedy like what she went through, if she was ready, she’d be saying “I lost someone I really loved, but I’m ready to find the new love of my life”. She should not of played on Brad’s heart, and ruined other girls chances. Obviously too, because they’re still not married. She didn’t even wear the ring for a while. Also, it’s fine that Bentley doesn’t want Ashley, but playing with her heart and saying mean things crosses the line. He should of just turned right around and went home to his daughter the second he knew it was her. I guess these BentleyApologists think it’s okay for people to go around saying mean things, and hurting everyone, because hurtings so good. Even though, I think Ashley hurt enough last season. Didn’t mommy ever teach you BentleyApologists that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. You can be different and have your own opinions and be nice!

She didn’t wear the ring for a while because Brad had it resized and didn’t see her until the episode where they reunited. He put it on her finger then. However, they broke up at least a couple times after that and are currently not together. Apparently, she doesn’t care for his party lifestyle (he owns bars with his brothers) or his douchey temper, and doesn’t want to uproot her daughter and move to Texas when things are so unstable.

That said, I agree with your last points. When I saw this season’s Bachelorette was Ashley, I was greatly disappointed–she was one of my least favorite from that entire Bachelor season–but if I had been one of the men on the show, I either would have made no impression during the first cocktail party or I would have taken the opportunity to get to know her myself and see if my opinion changes. As a viewer, I chose the option similar to the latter.

Yeah, Emily didn’t change her mind because of other people. She changed her mind because of Bently’s personality. THE THINGS HE SAID HIMSELF. She even said so herself. IT’s delusional to block out reality and assume she’d like Bently after how he acted .. expecially after hearing it right from her own mouth.

Not to mention Emily is way out of his league or not even playing on his team. I heard he was going to come out of the closet on the reunion. I wouldn’t be surprised. Can see it from a mile away. Don’t get why Ashley didn’t see the red flags.

        Shame on you for:
        1) watching reality TV
        2) actually coming to this page
        3) having some of the lamest comments on the topic.

This is a site that worships Bentley’s hair. We are not promoting him.

I’m glad you love Bentley and his family, but can’t you still love someone and be disappointed in their actions? Can you or Bentley himself man up enough to say that he is sorry for how he hurt Ashley’s feelings? Everyone has opinions about him and what went down and I know things are edited…but in Ashley’s own words she says that he hurt her worse than anything she has ever experienced? Can’t Bentley or the owner of this website at least prove that they are human and say that they feel bad for her? that they are sorry she was so hurt by him??

sorry Goldy- ABC owns his life- he is not allowed to apologize… Bentley does not have a voice right now… that is why I think this show is so jacked and I will never watch it again… the producers are nuts!

        June 7, 2011 at 6:10 pm

Well then I agree, I won’t watch the show either if the people they are filming aren’t ever allowed to tell their side of the story. The only thing we have to go on is how Ashley is telling her side and she posted today how much she was hurt and I felt very sorry for her. I also feel sorry for Bentley, (only to an extent) because if what you said is true he can’t defend himself and explain better why he said the things he did. I’m sure to him it was funny at the time, but he has to be filled with at least a little regret now if he has any kind of conscience.

    • June 7, 2011 at 6:06 pm

Goldy, you are lost on relationships. Heartbreak happens. THIS IS WHY HE LEFT. If he really was motivated on crushing her, he would have waited till the end and not accepted the rose. This would have destroyed her.

As soon as Bentley got a signal that she was digging him a bit too much, he took off (FYI–after two dates). So sure I and others always feel bad when someone gets hurt. But this is happening across america with woman watching him. They get their own heart broken every Monday night.

        June 7, 2011 at 6:16 pm

I appreciate your response, and I do recognize that it was good that he left when he did and that was the right thing to do….but I think what everyone has a problem with is the way he left and all the hurtful things he said about Ashley. He called her an ugly duckling and kept emphasizing that he wasn’t attracted to her. I understand that editing probably made things seem much worse but there is no denying some of the hurtful comments he made. I am sure it was an awkward situation and he felt like approaching it with humor would make it easier but he has to now realize how hurtful he was to her and I hope he has some regrets. That is all.
This is between them, and I can’t believe I even care enough to read the posts and write comments…..but before you guys ask me if I have anything better to do, apparently not at this moment.

“A rose for Emily” brilliant analogy. Em is beautiful but she is a sheeple. Bentley must take the good with the bad- Drop dead Gorgeous woman and limit himself to talk trivial stuff w/her. I guess is an ok exchange.
