The Heartbreaker — The Key to Bentley’s Appearance on the Bachelorette

We had the misfortune to stumble across a French movie the other day called The Heartbreaker. Lucky for us, it wasn’t about postcards from a traveling gnome, but it was still French. Here’s the premise of the movie: there’s a guy who’s specialty is breaking up relationships that are doomed to fail. Basically, people hire him to break up budding romances and marriages that threaten the happiness of one or both of the people involved. There really isn’t much more to say than that. There are the usual comedic supporting cast, the typical French snobbery, and the amazing lush vistas. But, the movie didn’t star Bentley, or even refer to him, or have him as a cameo.

Or did it?

Let’s review the movie. Charming, sophisticated, incredibly good-looking male lead whose forte is breaking up doomed relationships. It just so happens that this character is also a snappy dresser and sports just the right kind of tousled hair. And, we should add, very charismatic. Starting to sound familiar? Yep, it’s Bentley alright. This movie obviously had Bentley in mind.

In fact, we think Bentley’s whole appearance on The Bachelorette is starting to make more sense. He and Ashley may or may not find love together (her loss if they don’t), but what Bentley is really doing, the real blessing that he’s providing to Ashley, is showing her what a waste any of the other guys would be. He is the Heartbreaker. Bentley is there to help Ashley, to open her eyes (and her heart).

Looking at it this way, it’s clear that what Bentley is doing on the Bachelorette is one of the most selfless things we have ever witnessed on reality tv.

Ashley, you owe Bentley an apology.

Really? Whatever. Bentley’s hardly sophisticated. He reminds me of half a dozen barely educated strutting guys in any random downtown Salt Lake club. You might find some deeper meaning in order to justify this loser’s appearance on the show, but I’m going to bet the producers weren’t nearly that insightful and instead aimed at the cheap, easy melodrama to target women easily wrapped up in that nonsense.

Please tell me you are joking. Bentley is perhaps the most sophisticated contestant on reality show, ever! He literally oozes style, class, and intellect. Moreover, the guy has a graduate degree and worked on the most prestigious investment bank on Wall Street – you’re seriously going to call him “barely educated.” We aren’t looking for some deeper meaning – Bentley is it, and if you can’t see that the producers have a gold mine, well then you are like all the other good little sheep that watch the show and like who the producers tell them to like.

bently could have left the show and not said any of those hateful comments of Ashley.
His comment about: I am going to make Ashley cry, how does my hair look? was scary. He is a sociopath. Who cares if some people consider him to be sophisticated, the dude is SCARY. I can totally see him committing a Murder.
I would be terrified of working with him, and NO ONE in their right mind would trust this guy

1st off Bentley is nothing special. He is just well rehearsed in the 11th man theorem. 2nd, There is a large fraction of men that speak of women like he does or worse, so if you are a woman that doesn’t know that, then you are crazy clueless. Women should realize that if a man seems too cool, aloof and charming (the very qualities they are most attracted to) then most likely they are learnt behaviours and tools in the arsenal to deceive and conquer. They are a clue to how callous that person can be.
I know because I’m quite similar to Bentley. It’s possible, slightly, that he really is like that through and through, however I want to stop myself sometimes, but women make it too easy for me, and then I HAVE to hurt them because they fell for a ridiculously obvious facade.

Don’t ever, EVER compare yourself to Bentley on this website!!! No one comes close. Not you, not Ames, not David Beckham, nobody.

i’m a woman, and agree with raphael. some of my friends are like Ashley, they’re so insecure and dumb when it come to dating. I tried to warn them but they didn’t listen and ended up getting hurt all the time by their own stupidity, falling inlove so fast and being so clingy.

    Seriously?????
I think Bentley is a joke! He’s not even attractive! His “tousled hair” makes him look like he can’t groom himself properly and his comments about how he was trying to get her to sleep with him when he was telling her he was leaving the show made me want to vomit. He has no class. I don’t believe that he’s a “victim of editing” I think that he’s a jackass! He’s the reason why genuinely good guys get a bad wrap.
Do the world a favor Bentley, ski off of a cliff!
