“We almost had to shut down production” – maybe you should have!

There have been some big lies in TV history. But Chris Harrison’s recent revelation regarding Bentley is definitely right up there with “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” and, “Someone hacked my Twitter account.” Harrison claims that Bentley’s antics on the show almost forced production to shut down. Here’s Harrison’s full statement (note that it is preceded by another lie, almost as egregious – that Bentley was not put on the show to elicit drama):

“We didn’t put this guy in there to draw out drama. People give us too much credit. This doesn’t turn out to be a good thing for us or Ashley. We almost had to shut down production. If it was two or three weeks later, we probably wouldn’t have finished. This makes her question everything – the rest of the guys, herself, if this was worth it. It was really rough for us to get her back on track. Ashley definitely has a hard time moving passed this. It will haunt her and play a major role the rest of the show. She [became] a different person – a crestfallen, vulnerable little girl.

Seriously, Chris Harrison? You really expect us to believe there was some sort of huge meltdown because Bentley made a few comments during his ITM interviews? “We almost had to shut down production.” Well, maybe you should have! After all, viewers probably would have preferred it if you packed up and called it a day, especially after the only reason for watching the Bachelorette walked off the set. We already know that Ashley was in love with Bentley. Which second choice contestants are we supposed to get excited about now? The return of Bentley this week can’t come soon enough. Please, please, please grace us with your presence Bentley, even if only for a few minutes. Monday nights just aren’t the same since you’ve gone away…

Well, I will admit that Bentley certainly does make the show worth watching… unfortunately, it’s at the expense of a sweet girl’s emotional stability. =/ Maybe he should just give her a lock of his hair, since it’s apparently so damned powerful…? Then it’s a win-win.

If ABC was so concerned about Ashley’s feelings and stating that they ALMOST had to shut down production, then why did they bring Bentley back? So that they could ALMOST shut down production again?? YEAH RIGHT!!! That show is a JOKE and so are ALL the producers!!!!

Seriously Chris? I didnt know Ashley was aware of all of Bentley’s backstage comments; cause those are the ones, if true, would make him out to be two faced. So Ashley would have only been heart broken for only 1 of two possible reasons.
    1) she watched each weeks commentary after it happened and much earlier than it aired and was heartbroken by “his” remarks or….
    2) she was plain smitten by the guy and had a hard time getting dumped.

We know that the first is not true….hence the second is true. This brings me to the nail driver. If in fact Ashley was so in love with Bentley that she almost left the show, possibly costing ABC millions of dollars, they would have due justification for taking out some passive aggression on Bentley.

I actually feel really bad for this guy. I dont take this show seriously, nor the way Bentley was portrayed. However it is highly entertaining for very unintelligible reasons. I feel most sympathetic for Bentley as I am sure his voice and ability to defend himself is sealed with legal documents. He probably can’t even get paid to make appearances or say anything alluding to a negative comment toward the network. I wish he could at least make a buck of his image but am worried that is not the case. Shame on ABC. I hope all contestants for future shows stay weary of a similar situation.
On a positive note I am glad the LDS church has not been dragged through the mud. Being a member of the Church I have not been aware of negative feedback.
Positive thoughts to Bentleys family. I feel sorry for them.
