Bentley, helping Ashley find love

People tend to highly value things that they have suffered for. That’s because they have to be able to justify the effort they made to get them. It’s called “suffering-leads-to-liking”

From previews, it appears that Ashley’s Bachelorette experience will have some suffering because of Bentley. But in going through this ordeal, she will become more attached to whichever contestant she does ends up with. So stop giving Bentley a hard time. He’s actually helping her find love!

Plus, it’s not all suffering – she still gets to run her fingers through that luscious hair…

Yeah. It probably will help Ashley see anyone who treats her as a human being worthy of dignity as a better match, and she went on TV–on The Bachelor– so she put herself out to be fair game for dbags. Fine.

What’s sad, though, is that girls end up loving men like their dads so that poor little girl of his is bound to be drawn to men who have no problem treating her like dirt to win a game. Who don’t bother to take the time to see the person they’re kissing as an actual person. I don’t care how much editing went down, B. clearly didn’t treat Ashley with respect and dignity. If he defends his actions, he only teaches his daughter that the men who treat her that way are who she should choose. Pretty sad. Pretty sucky for a dad to do for his daughter. I’ll bet he doesn’t have a clue he’s doing it, either. Probably defends his actions in front of her instead of sucking it up like a man and admitting he made a mistake (I hope I’m wrong on this one).

I’m embarrassed he claims to be a devout Mormon. Just avoiding alcohol or sex doesn’t make you devout. Striving to see each individual as a son/daughter of God and keeping the rest of God’s commandments makes you a devout Mormon.

I hope the nameless person who started this site is really just using it to stir up controversy and sell t-shirts. If B. actually is a good guy who just made some really ugly choices on national tv– post some tangible evidence. Defending his actions only cheapens the writer, too.

Bit long winded there NM don’t you think? Let’s try and have cogent concise comments.

      Example:
The evidence you requested. Look at his hair, what more do you need?

The whole setup of “the bachelorette” is completely for entertainment. It’s hard to take the whole idea of it seriously (one girl dating several men at the same time)… I don’t feel sorry for any bachelorette, bachelor, or contestant. Anyone would jump on the opportunity to be on national TV… Give Bentley a break!

    • June 1, 2011 at 5:45 pm

If the ex had not leaked information to the show, then Bentley would have been just another guy, that may have been kicked off on the first night because presumably he would not have tried that hard to impress Ashley since “Ashley wasn’t his type”. I remember the host saying “This is the first time we have had drama before the show even started”–That was all ex wife drama!!! And guess what, ABC jumped on it–ABC knows the questions they need to ask to make Bentley look like a jerk, ABC knows what will make every housewife go crazy across America with hatred, and I bet ABC is getting pretty skilled at making devout Mormons look not so devout. So they ask the juicy questions, and ABC was successful! And guess what–ABC does all this with non disclosure contracts making it impossible for the hateful housewives to even find the truth (not that they would even be looking)–because it’s always nice to fun to kick someone when they are down!!

I’m not sure what the ex had in mind with her leak, but I know she is not the victim–her business has exploded and she still has pictures of Bentley on her personal blog!

Thank you Bentley Apologists (whoever you are) for being the better person, in fact, I will praise you as a Good Samaritan. To those of you on your Christian/Mormon soapboxes, I just wonder which character you identify with in the parable of the Good Samaritan? (See Luke 10: 30-37).
There were a lot of heart-breaking stories last night from brain tumors necessitating a mask, to widowers, to alcoholic parents, to Bentley’s situation of divorce and heartbreak. Most of us are able to find love without the help of ABC, so it’s easy to sit and criticize those that that have been stripped, beat, and left half dead on the side of the road (metaphorically speaking). But the parable teaches us that a follower of Christ will show mercy.
So thank you Bentley Apologists for not judging the stranger (with awesome hair) for how they got into a situation. Instead, you took the time out of your busy life to apply bandages. Thank you for your offering of a healing hand. Thank you for being a Good Samaritan. As a fan of Bentley, I hope your movement expands!

      • June 1, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Thanks for the comments. If you want to help with the movement. post this blog to discussion boards on reality show sites.

    1. Yep. Long winded. Not flippant. Got it.
    2. Don’t agree that “all’s fair…”
    3. Agree– Bachelorette is ridiculous. Don’t agree– “anyone would jump on the opportunity to be on national tv” Really? Really?
    4. Sorry I care. I’ve recently watched too many friends (men and women) being treated like crap by who they date/marry because they saw their parents act the way B. did. Feel bad for the little girl– not anyone who went on reality TV.
    5. Also, I’m Mormon. I already have to try to convince people that Mormon men aren’t Chauvinist pigs. B went on with the Mormon label I share & said stuff (don’t care how it was edited. he said it) that was disrespectful to women. He callously hurt another human being on TV. Even if I think that the show is ridiculous, a lot of people watch it, and it was really embarrassing.
    6. I really hope this site is just stirring up controversy to sell t-shirts.
    7. B– if you are reading this, man up and apologize.

      Okay.
      Fine.
We’ll see how he uses his airtime on his interviews and the show where the contestants get to talk back. If he’s humble, respectful, apologetic, gets it together enough to realize that all women (even ones who were as stupid as he was to go on reality tv) are worthy of respect and dignity, then I’ll eat my words. We all make mistakes.
If he goes out there with a bunch of lame excuses like this website keeps vomiting up, I’ll still be pissed.

was it not his ex wife that he shares a child with the one who tried to warn Ashley about this jerk?? I think so. She should know more than anyone else!

    • June 1, 2011 at 6:41 pm

An ex wife as a source of character–really? And I really want to know why the ex would care about Ashley’s well being? NOPE–it was all about “Trowing Bentley under the Bus”! (And a little bit of business promotion herself–go to ex wife’s blog).

He clearly wasn’t interested in love, just a competition and “getting his P**** tickled”. So incredibly embarrassed that it’s common knowledge he is Mormon.

  5. June 1, 2011 at 6:33 am

I wish Bentley could come on here and speak his side of the story, but we all know he signed his life away in non-disclosure contracts before he went on the show. If he could talk, I’m sure we would all see the other side of this story.

  6. NM
    June 1, 2011 at 8:53 pm

Who cares about B’s “side of the story”? Not me. He went on The Bachelorette. They crazy edit and play villainous music behind you. You have to be an idiot or thoroughly arrogant to think that you can get away with saying cruel things that won’t be spliced and utilized to maximum effect.

The Bachelorette doesn’t have over 9M viewers and win the ratings war on its time slot for nothing.
A 30 sec. ad spot that most viewers will just TIVO through probably runs for at least 100K for a reason.

It’s good TV: The arrogant guy with good hair makes pouty statements (he said them and had to know they’d use them somehow) that the bachelorette isn’t the hot blonde party planner, but instead the cute brunette dentist (oh no! she’s smart & has brown hair). Does he graciously and politely bow out then? Nope. Does he allow her to save face on national television like a gentleman? Nope. He allows himself to be filmed literally sweeping her off her feet and kissing her. He jokes about how it’s all a “game”. The producers must have been wetting themselves when he made the “pee” comment knowing how well this could run. Blah. Blah. Blah. I don’t care. Stupid reality TV. Except he let people know he’s Mormon & when the radio commentators, etc. bring it up they mention it.

It pisses me off the way devout Muslims get pissed when someone uses their religion to defend much more heinous acts. He’s bringing down the public perception for a lot of us.

The Mormon church is the least respected church in America according to public opinion polls and does its tremendous service work in silence.

    B. just gave The Bachelorette millions of dollars worth of free bad publicity for my label, and now his friends are asking for sympathy? Like it’s a total joke? Are you kidding me?

Worth millions of dollars for a reason.

If he wants to man up and use some of his expensive national airtime minutes to be humble, apologize, and redeem the public’s image of a Mormon man and maybe even teach his daughter to expect more from men, great.

Until then, have fun selling t-shirts for FAR less than what they cost.

    • June 1, 2011 at 9:03 pm

NM you’re post is garbage. Two days after the show and you are still grinding that ax. What ever you do to find zen go do it. You might want to spend time looking at Bentley’s hair. It’s captivating. Shorten your posts or we’ll just block them.

    • June 1, 2011 at 9:13 pm

Quick lesson in money for you NM you want to sell things for MORE than what they cost. This is how you make what’s called a profit. Try it next time you throw one of your Tupperware/Candle/Pampered Chef parties. Wait, are you a democrat? This would say a lot about your posts. If Bentley was here he could totally explain this concept to you, however you might find communicating with someone that hot a bit distracting.

  8. June 1, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Nope, this site is about paying respect to the man who is 2 legit to quit, not selling shirts. If you want to help us sell shirts, buy one. If you want controversy post it some place else, we are 100% pure fans and we don’t want Bentley’s hair to get upset.

Oh. Huh. I get it. This is actually a mock Bentley site where you defend him only with flippant quips about his hair. Good call. The Bachelorette couldn’t have done a better job to prove they portrayed him accurately than you do.

      Love the satire.

Unfortunately, I was kind of hoping to find something I could use to help spin this PR debacle. Oh well.

Are you kidding me!!! You do know that Pixar studios uses his hair to model all their animations. If you ask me their 3D cartoons have quite a ways to go before they get to the holy grail of human hair, but it’s always good to reach for the stars. Also sorry to hear you are in_slc

LOL.. removing my post only serves to support my case. I only *shrug* at the realization that others won’t get to see or know it. The smart ones agree with me anyway. And my “potty mouth” is appropriate in this forum, and if there is hatred, it is emanating from Bentley himself. You pulled my comment because you wanted to piss me off, because obviously, you could moderate the comments before they’re posted. But I’m not pissed off; just mildly amused.

So… let’s try this again (Oh, yeah, I copy and paste everything I write to notepad documents, because you just never know when you’ll need to refer to it, right? This could mean my life is somewhat mundane, but I prefer to consider my archiving somewhat of a narcissistic strength… so…..)

Is Bentley the author of these blogs? I would put money on it. If so, the dude’s a deviant genius. Be a complete and total buttface on television, then blog about himself to further rouse the angry public… and sell novelty tee-shirts with his smug mug and dumb sayings on them to make some spending cash. Wow. He can really work the system, can’t he? The dude’s still a buttface, and karma will get him at some point, but for now, he’s livin’ the life of a genius buttface. I hope upon hope, though, that his karma comes from his daughter’s inevitable disgust. I hate it for her, but I can’t undo the fact that her father is a purptop. She might as well know it. And she’ll likely put him in his place someday. I can already imagine him.. head in his hands… crying out “Why?! What did I do to deserve this?! …… Oh, yeah, I knowingly played with women’s emotions and delighted in their pain. Darn it. Wish I’d planned that out a little bit better.” Meanie!

        • June 2, 2011 at 1:45 am

Jen, thanks for keeping it clean.
          1) I’ll take that bet and give you a 10 to 1 pay out. You have a serious opportunity here, name the amount… put down $100K you will make a million. Let’s do this.
          2) Did you see the preview of next week’s show? Bentley makes her cry because after about 40-90 minutes of alone time she thinks he is the one. Bentley is a heart breaker. This happens after girls ride in an elevator with the guy. This is happening to girls across america from just watching the show. Bentley can’t help this.
          3) Did you see the preview of next week’s show? You might want to start ripping on the dude that made Ashley cry from actually being a jerk during the roast. Bentley is actually the one showing empathy during that part.

RE: Who is running this site? It appears that someone in Southern California is running the site (just guessing based on time frames of the blogs)–that is not Bentley. If the site was run by Bentley, I do not think the shirts would have every phrase on them. Even as a Bentley fan, I do not want to buy the shirt because of the content of the shirts. I think the content of the shirts signals that whoever is running this site is a new fan of Bentley (perhaps introduced to him through the TV show) and not a long time friend. The message (to me) on the shirts is “I accept Bentley for who he is as portrayed by ABC”–so no, my vote is not for Bentley running the site.

    • June 2, 2011 at 3:14 pm

Wrong Bentley fan, we don’t accept ABC, we protests ABC! “WE (as an apologist movement) accept Bentley for his amazing good looks and we believe his hair MORE THAN COMPENSATES for any statements (regardless of video editing context). We fight for truth justice and more footage of Bentley. Our cause is also to help expose Chris Harrison as the complete tool that he is.” Will you join our movement?

According to what you wrote (complete text below), you state that I WILL MAKE A MILLION. Well, is that a freudian slip? ARE you Bentley? Hmmm??? Or is your statement just an attempt to ridicule me? Maybe both.

Regardless, I don’t have $100,000, so how about $10? Obviously, we will need a judge of whether or not you are Bentley. Pretty sure I have $100 comin’ to me, Bentley. I’m a single mom with a good job but enough dumb monetary decisions in my past to make me really struggle now. I’m gonna make a come-back, but my situation sucks. So $10 it is. Have someone prove you’re not you.

I think the only good thing Bentley did was to leave the show rather than sticking around. The worst thing was not even so much the terrible mean things he said about her on tv but the way he tried to make it look like he liked her instead of just manning up and telling her, “I wish you well but you are just not my type” and then the dot, dot, dot thing, just wrong! In fairness, she did seem to jump a little overboard over the guy she really did not know very well, and I think most women could have read between the lines with what he did not say to her.
