What are the “right reasons” to be on a reality dating show?

In the first episode of The Bachelorette, it was revealed that Ashley got a call about one of the contestants being on the show for “the wrong reasons.” We learned later that the contestant was Bentley Williams. According to the source, Bentley was not there to meet his soul mate, but rather to promote his business career. That’s hard to believe. Although it seems that contestants in some professions (professional wrestling) might benefit from the exposure being on The Bachelorette would create, it is less obvious what it would do for ‘a businessman.’ Heck, Bentley was a former Goldman Sachs banker for Pete’s sake. Does he really need the show to jump start his career? So if Bentley’s are the wrong reasons for being on The Bachelorette, what are the right reasons?  And don’t say it is to meet Mrs. Right…

Seriously, it is hard to believe he came on to promote his career…i can’t even remember what the name of his business is. Plus all this bad publicity is more likely to hurt his business that to help!

I’m just guessing, but I assume he was simply an analyst for Goldman. It doesn’t take that much to get an analyst job at Goldman, but I doubt that will diminish your hero worship. “Analyst” is a relatively crappy paying job that is entry level out of college or business school. Virtually no one moves up internally in that job and, as such, it is merely a resume builder until you can get a real business job or start your own. Entrepreneurs, though, are media whores, eager to say or do anything to make their business work. They will sell the clothes off their backs, but would rather sell the clothes off someone else’s back to get their business going.

I’m not sure where you are getting your information from. Certainly not firsthand experience in banking. “Analyst” is actually one of the highest paying jobs you can get out of college. I wouldn’t call 6 figures (total comp) a “relative crappy paying job”. Relative to what? Where else can you make that much money right out of college? Also, out of business school, you would come in at an Associate level (making $300K in a bad year), senior to analyst but junior to VP. BTW, I worked for another bank (as an Associate out of B-School) where the majority of analysts get promoted. In fact, a guy I used to work with started as an analyst, worked his way up to Managing Director and is now happily retired at 40. The ones that left went to top business schools or went on to make more money at a fund. It is very rare that someone would start their own business right after the analyst program. And how can anyone badmouth Entrepreneurs like that? These are also the people that work tirelessly to develop and promote medical devices and innovations to fight diseases such as cancer. Or develop technology and military defenses. Find green alternatives to mainstream energy to save our planet. Maybe SOME entrepreneurs are media whores but the ones I know are very passionate about their ideas and trying to change the world in a small way or a large way. And they will sell the shirts off their back for an idea they believe in, it takes sacrifice to accomplish great things. I’m not saying that Bentley is any of these things but wanted to set the record straight for those who are being unfairly judged…many friends and colleagues of mine who are brilliant and talented and never had to step on anyone to get ahead.

Please remember that Ktorrent will continue
to work on Gnome, KDE and Xfce desktops. Before
you create up your mind to download torrents, you should ensure
that your system features a good anti-virus program
installed. I try downloading’New Moon’ only to see if it really is up – but who am I kidding.
